Description

According to National Bank of Cambodia (NBC)’s Prakas on Management of Precious Metals and Stones, this business license is required if applicant wishes to conduct business in precious metals and stones in the Kingdom of Cambodia.  

The Business License for Trade in Precious Metals and Stones is prerequisite for request for Precious Metals and Stones Import/Export Certificate, also to be issued by NBC.

Place for submitting application

Exchange Rate Office of Exchange Management Department, located in NBC's building, is the place where applicant would go to lodge his application for the Business License for Trade in Precious Metals and Stones.

The office should be the first place to go for relevant service information and sample application forms. Applicant would also pay for service fee, collects payment receipt and the issued license here.

Applicant can come to collect the sample application forms at Exchange Rate Office

Applicant can assign a representative to submit application and go through the required application process on his behalf. In this case, Power Attorney or authorization letter is also needed to include into the application.

Supporting Documents include:

• Business Registration Certificate
• Business location documents issued and certified by competent authorities
• Company's memorandum and articles of association

If applicant submits copied version of any supporting documents that is relevant to applicant’s identification including Business Registration Certificate and Tax Registration Certificate, it is normal requirement that these copied documents be certified by competent authorities first.

Internal process starts from Exchange Rate Office, which is the most relevant technical office for this application, and go through several consideration and approval process by relevant officers/offices in institutional hierarchy order.

During this internal process, applicant may be asked or advised (practically by phone call) by officer to provide further information and/or documents for the completeness of application. This process would results in primary approval on the application and only then technical officer in charge of the application may advise applicant about this primary approval and ask applicant to come to pay required service fee.

Service fee in issuing this License is 2.000.000 KHR.

The License is valid for 1 year (validity shown on the License itself). Applicant may bring identification documents of himself and application filing receipt/payment receipt when he comes to collects the certificate. 

The certificate holder who wishes to do export/import of the precious metals and stones may continue to submit the application for Precious Metals and Stones Import/Export Certificate.
